October 2008 Rejection of Chevron's Appeal

In October 2008, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit denied Chevron's attempt to shift its multi-billion dollar liability to Ecuador's government for contamination it caused in the Amazon rainforest. Chevron claims that agreements with the government of Ecuador released it from all legal liability, a claim that the court found to be "without merit."
